In 1995 three parents from the local church decided to run a parent and toddler group in the church hall. This then developed into a preschool play group three times a week.
The group grew in popularity and demand and began to expand to full day care. In 2000 a new vicar came to the parish with the passion and vision to help secure funding and in 2001 The Apple Trust (charity) was created to serve the needs of the community by advancing the education of children and young people in the area.
Our ethos is very important to us and many of our parents have said we are “different” or “unique”. We strive to be very much a community embracing nursery, working not only with children but supporting their families and engaging with all generations in the local area.
The Apple Trust (Little Apples) has its roots in St Gabriel’s Church where it was first founded and is part of the church team of ministries. In many ways The Apple Trust can be seen as the church’s nursery working in
partnership together.
In 2005 funding was secured to expand further with the development for a Neighbourhood Nursery opposite the existing provision. As a setting we pride ourselves on being inclusive to all children and families and we always go that extra mile to support families in all circumstances.
As The Apple Trust has grown and developed so has our staff, we have a high staff retention level with the majority of staff having been with us for more than 10 years.
We value and support our staff and over the years we have formed The Apple Trust family which has created a loving, caring and positive environment for staff and children to be.
